G3 900 iBook, 40G, ram maxed out at 640. Running 10.3.7. Yes, the Mother Board has been replaced. No the battery isn't in the recall group. But, lately my iBook just seems a bit slow getting the job done. I see the spinning beach ball for routine tasks and wonder what I can do. I do repair permissions, I do other stuff like Cache X, Preferential Treatment for maintenance. System profiler tells me I've got just under 17 G available in my HD, so it's not really a space issue. I haven't upgraded my OS because one crucial app (ProTools LE 6) doesn't seem to respond well with 10.3.8--and I don't suspect TIger is covered yet, either. If this is way too much info, sorry. I'm just trying to give you the best picture of my iBook. Any thoughts for revving things back up a bit?

Hi,
Slow start up can result from bad internet connection. Slow use can sometimes be due to fonts.
Have you tried Deep Six? It is an older program but may be something to try.
Sorry, just grasping.

Thanks for the effort. Not slow start up, but slow performance. Opening files etc. And the internet connection is the least of my worries----it's beyond fast.

Try running Onyx. It's a great little utility app. Run pretty much the full line of Automation stuff and see if that helps. You can also try running DiskWarrior to clean up your HD even more. If you don't already own it, it's worth the investment anyway.
