Hello All,
My first Mac is now in my possession - an Indigo 366 iBook. I'm taking it to college with me in August to use for web browsing, e-mail, and word processing. It has 64MB of RAM which I plan to max out at 320MB and install some version of X in the next two months. My question right now is in regards to the battery . . . is it dead? I should say that this machine has been in a closet for over a year with the battery intact. It will not start-up without the AC adapter. When it's off and I plug the power cord in, the light first changed orange as if it's charging but then quickly goes to green. Once turned on, the battery icon in the top right hand corner is always present. At first it's just a "low battery" icon but after a few minutes a red X appears over it. Will the battery never be able to hold a charge again? I've read responses to other people with battery problems that suggest it may not be totally dead, but just improperly drained from being stored wrong. The fix is to somehow drain the battery the right way and start fresh. Could that be the case here? Any ideas would be much appreciated.
