Hi all. I recently bought an iPod mini and love it. Here's my problem:
When I first got the iPod, I formatted it on my Mac, of course. Then I went to the beach for a month and the mac I have there is an older one, using OS 8.6 which is not compatible with iTunes or the iPod.
So I reformatted the iPod on my husband's pc, which erased everything I had stored but I figured, no problem, when I get back home, I'll just transfer what's on my Mac to the iPod. I can't seem to make this happen, however. When I connect the iPod to the Mac, I get a message asking if I want to delete the library that's on the iPod and replace it with what's on the Mac. Of course, I don't want to do this but do want to transfer what's on the Mac to the iPod. Whew!
I hope this is understandable and I hope someone has a solution to my problem. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif
Thanks,
Ellen

Just for the record, the problem you're having has nothing to do with Mac/Windows formatting. If you had 2 Macs or 2 PCs, you'd be having the same problem.
The solution is to set your iPod for "Disk Use" and then to extract the music off of the iPod from the hidden folders. On a PC, it's easy to do. Just go into the system settings and enable the "show hidden files" button. On a Mac, you'll need to use some other utilities.
I would suggest reading this THREAD.
