I imported some books on CD using the Apple Lossless setting, when I try to copy them onto my 2nd Gen iPod they won't go. If I convert a file to MP3 I can drag the converted file into my iPod. Why can't my iPod use the Lossless files?

As Apple tells us:

Earlier iPod models that have a FireWire port and use iPod software 1.4 or earlier cannot play files that use the Apple Lossless Encoder.

Thanks Chris,
But, while my iPod does have the firewire port, it is using iPod software version 1.5, according to the iPod software updater. Maybe Apple should say that no Firewire port iPods can use Apple lossess? Happily, thanks to another post here on the forums, I was reminded of the convert to MP3 command. That has taken care of this particular problem and I simply won't use lossless in the future.
