There must be a run on the Mighty Mouse because yesterday Apple emailed me that my mouse will ship the 9th. I am using a two buttons mouse and love those. I wrote Apple that a two buttons is a necessity not knowing they were already working on a super duper mouse. Did anyone get one already? Can you share your experience with it?

I too received the e-mail from Apple that my order won't ship until Aug 10th for the Mighty Mouse. This is after ordering the day of release with the Apple Store stating "Ships same day". Apple should know better than to place "Ships same day" on newly release products. This is always too short lived to justify.

Both Apple stores near my home are sold out too. They both received some the first day, but that's it. As usual Apple fails miserably in supply vs. demand.

You are little harsh. Apple probably got a fantastic response they did not expect to be so big. There must be a pent up demand for such a mouse for years. Suddenly Apple comes up with something way much more than anybody was dreaming to get. A few more days will not kill either one of us. Some people got lucky and got their mouse already. I have purchased 2 of them and do not like either mainly because the cord is too stiff unlike a mouse by Apple. Another week and we both will love it mighty mouse.

Apple fails ...
that wasn't harsh.
I cannot imagine Apple not knowing the response they were going to get when they finally introduced a multi button mouse.
at least you are getting yours the 9th.. mine is scheduled for the 10th.
yes, they failed miserably in the regard of inventory versus demand on release day.
most of the products are built as they are ordered and shipped in a timely manner..
I agree, to tease us and not have the inventory was wrong.

If everything in life was as perfect as you expect from Apple we would not have 1800 perfectly good Americans dead for no reason, everybody would pay his fair taxation, Congress would not be bought by the highest bidder. Name the company that has a more perfect record than Apple! We are getting something that a week ago we did not even dreamed of getting. It is childish to get a tantrum for a delay of a week. Grow up!

Albert,
I was not harsh at all. Apple should have had inventory before making a major introducion of a new product. They constantly do this. Apple doesn't need the defense from the faithful when it's not warranted.

Mighty Mouse shipping issues aside, supply VS demand has been a very long thorn for Apple.
They never make the product numbers they need to insure enough supply/inventory for customers.
This is why store chains like Target and Best Buy had to pull the plug on selling Mac Mini's.
Thet weren't meeting the inventory numbers these stores needed as well as not making the needed delivery schedules
My 2 pence for what it's worth.

ya
that's many users beef with them.
considering that's one of the few real rants we get.. we still buy their stuff. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
and are usually happy when we get it /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
I am just miffed it's an added week+ for me.
but living in the sticks does have it's upside /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I must admit I'm mystified by all the hoorah over this mouse.
I bought a LogiTech Trackman Wheel to use with my mini because I REALLY liked the trackball on the old PowerBook 180 I owned. I knew the LogiTech was a two-button design, but that was quite incidental to me. It does have a really nice "feel" to it and my thumb really flings the cursor around.
Of course, the mini was MADE to be used with mice from the "dark side"; but I have yet to make productive use of the "right-click" command options. If possible, I would disable the "right-click" capability. I inadvertently "trigger" it pretty often, and getting rid of the unwanted window pop-up is a productivity drain. Time will tell.
I seem to recall there was some combination of keystrokes on an Apple keyboard that would would fake a right-click by the "missing" button.
So, again, enlighten me: What's so "big-deal" that now Apple offers a two-button mouse?
Regards,
dmod

I have to say that the big deal for me is that I can now buy an Apple product that has more than one button. Honestly, I wouldn't even care if their standard mouse came with a scroll-wheel or scroll-ball, then I would pick it up instead. However, that is just me. I like using the single button on my PowerBook almost more than my little Logitech mouse, but the thing is, I hate using solid-state pointing devices for too long. ARGH!

I'm surprised at Apple's poor planning. I guess I was a lucky one, I arrived at the apple store and they had a few left. I asked about them and some guy overhead me rushed over to where they were and grabbed one I suppose he was nervious that I'd take the last one Of course I would have.
They [apple store] literally only received about 8 mice, and presumably they were there to be setup as demos. While no company is perfect, its usually sound business judgement when you roll something out, you have sufficient inventory.
As for the OP about the hoopla, perhaps it is a little over the top, but isn't that what being a Mac person is about. I cannot remember the last time I got excited about something in the windoze world.

When I worked in the music business, the company I worked for always stressed the limited availability of seating even from day 1, often saying "we expect this concert to sell out quickly". Every phone contact and marketing piece always made reference to the fact that seating was severely limited. This is a fairly standard marketing tactic - if people perceive that a product is in short supply, they are motivated to buy sooner. "Accidentally" running out of Mighty Mice in the first week may be a marketing decision by Apple to build more demand for the product.
