out of the box.. settings are:
no left or right.. it's one button.
the side buttons are active.. defaulted to Expos both sides.
scroll ball is a button also.. default to DashBoard.
vertical and horizontal scrolling ..ON
you can turn OFF anything until you get down to left right.. you can use then for anything from mirror to separate functions.
so you can have a single button mouse with or without a scrolly ball.
vertical or horizontal scroll or both or off
scroll ball switch off or on and programable.
tracking speed, scroll speed and double click adjustments.
there is probably more, but I just got it today /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
ET: you need the software to program the buttons or get moe than a single button with vertical scroll wheel

I'm inadvertently dragging a "red herring" in this thread, because I have a two-button LogiTech Trackman Wheel that worked with my Mini out-of-the-box without software. I like the little trackball beastie, but find the right-click function distracting, obtrusive, and a real pain in the production; and I mentioned I would eliminate the "right-click" function of it if I could.
MacCheetah offered that Apple software offerred this option on the Mighty Mouse (but it appears that's the default configuration anyway). So I was speculating on whether the Apple Mighty Mouse software would allow me to "neuter" the right-click on my Logitech (if I could get that software somewhere short of buying a Mighty Mouse).
My apologies,
