Networking Computers and Printer Question.

If anyone could give me an answer,
I am a bit confused on how using Bonjour with Windows machines to network printers works. For instance, if I have a PowerBook on the wireless network in my house, and my parents have an hp desktop with a printer connected, can I access the printer through Bonjour? Does the printer have to be connected to the Mac? If there are any other ways that Bonjour can be used other than these addressed by my questions, please comment on that as well. Thanks
