A few days ago I visited my hifi dealer and he let me test a Simpl A1 headphone amplifier with his 60 Gb iPod. First he had me lessoning to a couple of songs (recorded lossless) with the Pod directly connected to a fine Sennheise headphone. Then he put the amp on the iPod and I lessoned to the same music. The difference was dramatic. A real audiophile pleasure.
i would like to now if one of you has an experience with this amplifier or if there ps another headphone amplifier developped specially for the ipod ?

One of our writers over at PlaylistMag.com (Macworld's iPod sister publication) is reviewing a slew of headphone amps right now. Keep in mind that the improvement a headphone amp will provide is directly proportional to the quality of the headphones. In other words, Apple's stock earbuds won't improve much with a headphone amp, but a set of high-quality, hard-to-drive Sennheiser HD 650 will.
Personally, I'm a big fan of HeadRoom's AirHead/BitHead line:

I currently have a Total BitHead that I use with both my Mac and my iPod.
Disclaimer: I've done some copyediting for the folks at HeadRoom in the past, but I was a satisfied customer of theirs for years before that.
