The announcement may well be of a phone product of some kind, but it's possible also that iTunes 5 will finally be released -- in conjunction with the hardware product. iTunes has had a number of incremental releases but is really long overdue for a major upgrade. Of course, a new version of iTunes hardly has the "wow factor" going for it and hardly justifies a special occasion in a convention hall -- so clearly it would at most only accompany a major product announcement.

VidPod
My bet. Will show video.
I think a good enhancement to the iPod, rather than video, is the whole RSS/load webpages/email into your iPod. Seems more useful. I'm not talking surfing or writing emails, just viewing.
I'm dreaming of a NewtonPod, that has 802.11 & Cell phone capabilities. I would have to take a week off of work for all the swooning I'd be doing.
My thoughts,
:-)

Movie/video download service like iTMS, being a replacement for iTMS, and encompassing both, along with a new iPod that plays video. The new iPod replaces the touch-sensitive scroll wheel and separate screen with a larger touch-sensitive screen with virtual scroll wheel, thus allowing for a larger screen for video/photo playback while retaining the size of the existing full-size iPods. A significant change is the adoption of a standard USB 2 connector in place of the dock connector.
Yes, this is pure speculation, but given the tag line and recent rumors of a video ipod, something along these lines seems likely - in particular a larger touch-sensitive screen in place of the scroll wheel and separate screen seems likely to me - I can't see Apple releasing a device larger than the current iPod, at least not substantially larger, and so the physical/separate scroll wheel has to go, replaced with a virtual one. Further the dropping of the dock connector in favor of a USB 2 connector (perhaps mini-USB) would seem a good way to save space and cost, and still satisfy the majority of the market, plus it would allow for direct connection of digital cameras, ala the iPod camera connector, without the add-on hardware. Note that line-out is available via the USB 2 connector of the iPod shuffle, and so such capabilities would not necessarily be lost by such a change and Apple has already shown the willingness to drop firewire with the iPod shuffle - they don't seem to have been hurt by that decision.
