Also, I'm fairly certain that you are wrong about the availability of a line out through the iPod shuffle's UBS2 connector,. It's just a data port where an intelligent client can read the song files from the internal shuffle memory (like a disk drive).

This is inaccurate. The iPod shuffle's USB port does provide audio output. However, it's not a line-level output; it's a variable-level output with the level controlled by the shuffle.

A simple USB connection, with appropriate software on the iPod, could do even more than the dock connector can now.

This is also incorrect, for a number of reasons. For one thing, the dock connector has more bandwidth than a simple USB connection. For another, it provides a number of features you won't get from a USB plug, such as line-level audio output; video output; and remote control. Plus it supposedly has many other features that haven't yet been implemented such as audio/video input.

I think you're right about the Gap jeans offer. I haven't seen it announced or posted anywhere, but the iTunes music store has had a 'redeem' button on the
main page for codes you'd get from the Gap. No other explaination. I almost stopped at a Gap store to see what the promo was.

Actually, (didn't see this mentioned above)Gap is giving away free iTunes music if you try on a pair of jeans. The posters are in the front windows of the stores.
