Panther Icon Question

I was working on my son's iMac, installing updates to Panther.
I got it up to 10.3.9 and was dragging the little home folder icon (the house icon) to the dock and I overshot the damn thing and the Home icon poofed into non-existence.
How do I get it back??

Were you dragging from the Finder's toolbar?

No, I think I dragged it off the main window after opening the hard drive. From the sidebar...
Does that sound right??

Click on your hard drive icon and open your "users" folder. That's where my 'Home' icon is located.

Funny though...I made an alias and put it in the sidebar. Then I tried to drag that to the dock and it keeps poofing?
Not sure what the heck I'm doing wrong??
I've moved on to Tiger with my G5, thought I had Panther all figured out?!?! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Drag the original icon to the dock to make a dock shortcut. Drag the original icon to the sidebar to make a sidebar shortcut. That's all /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif.
