I have really enjoyed checking out the free downloads on iTunes each week but noticed nothing new has been posted.
Granted, I am accessing the site from Germany but it is Wednesday here (Tuesday night on the Calif. west coast). Usually it is available sooner. Is this tied with the new announcement scheduled for later today?

I seriously doubt it. Apple's been late posting the free download before, so I wouldn't look too far into the coincidence that it is happening again on the day a "big announcement" is planned. But, of course, I may be wrong... but I rarely am /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif j/k...

Must have been. As soon as the new iTunes 5.0 was announced the Free Download of the Week was released.
Don't forget "Discovery Download", too! Every week there's a new free download (in addition to the "Download of the Week) in a specific Genre. Keep checking every genre until you see the "Discovery Download" featured at the centre top of the page.
This week's Genre is "World" music and the free download is "Dream".

LOL! I have a 12" PowerBook and keep iTunes width limited, and I guess I never made it to the lower right hand corner of the iTunes Music Store homepage!
