magnifying glass over spinning disc on ipod

i plugged my ipod into my powerbook and it doesn't come up on itunes anymore. just that frustrating display on the ipod. even after resetting, unplugging, and plugging back in, nothing happens. anyone else have this problem or know how to reset the ipod to make it recognizeable? thanks.

i wnet ahead and restored the ipod. it seems to be good now.
what i think had happened is that maybe i've been plugging it into other macs and pulling songs from them. do you know if that could have messed it up?
