I have audiobooks that I didnt buy through iTunes. How do I put the necessary metadata in those files so my iPod sees them under the "audiobooks" category like the podcasts show in their own category?
Another way to phrase it is, on iTunes 5's new browse by king display, there is an "audiobooks" sorter. This is where I want all my audiobooks (not bought through iTunes) to show up.

Use Doug Adam's script Make Bookmarkable then drag the selection to audiobooks.

what do you mean by drag selection to audiobooks? The Make Bookmarkable works for what it is but not for showing me my audiobooks under "audiobooks" in my Nano, nor in the sort by "Audiobooks" feature in iTunes 5.

I mean, drag the files that you made bookmarkable to the audiobooks playlist. Unfortunately they don't automatically appear there.
