I'm looking at buying the Formac 21" LCD moniter. The price posted on their website is $1699.oo MUCH less than the Apple 22" or Apple 23". However I am wondering if anyone else has purchased this moniter and what they think of Formac LCD displays?

I am thinking about buying a Formac 20". It would be nice to buy it if the company offers a coupon. The problem is that I am still waiting for the company to e-mail back to me to answer my questions since a month. I think it is a rude. Maybe, they cannot read English. Do you have that problem?

I ordered a Formac 2010 about 2 weeks ago, first they said it would ship out last wednesday, then they said sometime this week, now I'm quoted October 30th they're GETTING a shipment. Don't mess with these guys...some people like their products, but customer support/service is terrible, and I don't know ANYONE who has actually gotten a 2010. On paper, it looks nice, but I imagine thats all it will be for the time being. I just broke down and got (another) cinema display. Ya just can't beat Apple's displays. The only good thing about the Formac display is they guarantee 2 dead pixels or less on each display--however, thats not very helpful considering if you did get more than 2, how are you supposed to get in touch with the company? It's catch 22 from where I'm standing...and I'm just not willing to risk it.

I am interested in the Formac 2010 also. I phoned them today and found that they do not have any displays in stock - "they hope to get some next week". The price is $1699 plus $140.17 tax. When available it is possible to pick up the display at their warehouse in Berkely and save the shipping cost. As an alternate have you considered the 20" Planar PL201M? It is listed at $1439 delivered price at Tiger Direct. com. I know nothing about the Planar unit and would appreciate hearing from anyone who has had experience with it. George

Jay

I would think that all LCDs will have a few dead pixels in the future. I assume that your Formac does not have a dead one yet.

How come you bought two large LCD monitors?

I bought 5 cinema displays images/icons/smile.gif In short, I need them...but its my business-I'll post a pic soon. So I ended up not getting the 20" formac and opting for the 23" Cinema HD. I love it.

Still waiting for a response from someone who has actually used the FormacGalley 2010 display. Sounds great on paper, but how good is it?

I'd like to know, too. I saw a very good review; I think it was in the UK edition of MacWorld.

It's been almost a month since the last post here. Can anyone add anything?

One of the big things to look for in a LCD is the response time. A time 25 and down is good. The lower the response time the less likly you will get the ghosting affect. I think also the ratio is very important as well.
