are there special HD-s for Macs, or just any regular (PC) hard drive will work?
i understand it needs to be SATA, and formatted accordingly of course...
any recommendations for brands?
i am thinking Seagate Barracuda, SATA with NCQ...
thx.

if the deal is good.. go for it.
I got a deal too good to pass on a SATA from Maxtor..
they are all plug and play.
stick em in, format and you are golden.
in the G5, I am unaware of any size limits such as the older macs had.
I was given a 200G, so that was my second HD and my upgrade.

Hi
I don't know how that proves anything. Maybe I missed something.
NCQ is both a hardware and software tool. The drive firmware itself must have NCQ support but apparently the SATA controller drivers and BIOS (firmware on Apple computers) must also have support in order to take full advantage of the technology.
