Who's using what brand of 35mm slide scanner? Resolution and Mac OS compatibility are my two main concerns. Any suggestions?
Thanks

You can't go wrong with either a Nikon or a Canon. I have been using a Nikon Coolscan II with a Centris and a PB, and now with G3 PB for 6 years in Africa as a photojournalist. Reliable and easy to use. I have used the newer Coolscans and Canons and am impressed. I hope to upgrade to the Super Coolscan 4000ED for my new G4 soon. Excellent equipment.

OR You can go with a Nikon or Canon digital SLR and avoid the middleman!

Good hunting. images/icons/cool.gif

I'm using a Nikon Super Coolscan 4000Ed. It produces very fine scans with great color depth. I frequently have large prints made and the detail is excellant.
Unfortunately Nikon is very slow to produce OS X comaptible scan applications. When I switched to OS X 10.1 I waited for 6 months for compatible software from Nikon. I had to boot into OS 9 to use the scanner. It would not work in Classic. Nikon released updated software in May 2002 but this software does not see the scanner in Jaguar. I purchased VueScan which does work with the Nikon 4000ED scanner under OS X 10.2 and 10.2.1 but I'm not convinced that the resultant scans are as good as with the original Nikon software so I continue to boot into OS 9 for my more critical work.
