My 20" G5 imac is unexpectantly loosing power. Sometimes it runs for 10-15 minutes but usually only one or two. There's no warning, the screen just goes black. I don't even have to have logged in.
I'm a couple of months past the 90 day phone support. Do I really have to pay $50 to get warranty service? I have an apple store fairly close by. Will the Genius Bar help me out?

it's in the year warranty. forget the phone support.
go to the apple store with it. bring your proof of purchase with you to show you are in your 12 month warranty.
I am betting MOBO. (motherboard)
luck with it.

There is a know problem with the midplane capacitor on G5 iMac's. That would be my guess.
Bring it to the Genius Bar

Sounds like a power supply problem.
However, first make sure the power cord is tightly plugged in the back of the iMac. If that's not the problem, take it to the shop.
