I would like to convert my WMV audio files into MP3 so I can put them in Itunes. Is there anything I could use to do this?
Thanks

Both Amadeus II and SoundStudio will do this for you.
I believe Quicktime 6 Pro and Quicktime 7 Pro will also let you convert from WMV/WAV to MP3.

Whoa...those converter software are pricy puppies. I've 'never' been able to convert .wmv to .mov, or .mp3 using QTPro v7.0.2. Those are just ornery video/audio files, but I'm guessing some might be able to convert using QTP. Just no luck at this end.

wish I could remember what all plug-ins I added to QT Pro 7. no more than 2 I believe.
it's current 7.0.3 and I can't remember how to view plug-ins for it.
but other than the Pro Key and MPEG-2 plugin, I haven't paid more than ~15 bucks for any shareware.
i say 15 cause that's the usual and customary shareware fee.. I pay those with no problems unless it's something I really don't want and toss.

I guess I depends on whether you're converting video WMV or just audio WMV files. As far as video WMV files, the only way I've been able to convert WMV video files to .mov is using either Discreet Media Cleaner or the Flip4Mac Quicktime plugin.
WMV audio files, however, I've been able to convert using some of the audio conversion programs, as listed above.

A plugin makes cents -Nuke for the conversion. If somebody was really into messing w/ .wmv it would be worth the cost of the shareware. I noticed on another post where you mentioned the MPEG-2 plugin for QT. And I agree the shareware fees for good software is worth it.

-Nuke...peek: HD/System/Library/QuickTime. I thinking thats where your components are. I was poking around after upgrading to QTPv7.0.3 and iTunes 6.0.
-Damien, I think the .wmv is doable more so if there is NO video for QT to mess with vs 2 muxed files. And AudioHijack has done good also w/ the audio.

Well dang -Nuke, thought that was their home. And I'm sure some .wmv play nicely w/ QT. I really don't spend much time at all w/ .wmv formats to warrant spending time on them as some folks might need to. Actally don't spend much time with anything that has 'W' involved in the prefix. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I found a program that does the job. It's called EasyWMA. It is well worth the price. It costs $10.00 to register it.
I was able to successfully convert a WMV sound file to MP3 using the demo version and ended up purchasing it since it can only convert up to 12 seconds in Demo mode.

I'd say that the easiest way of getting hold of audio encoded in .wmv/wma format would be to rund AudioHijacker (run a search at versiontracker.com). It'll play the file in realtime and then 'record' any system audio playing. Think it should work.

Thanks for the reply and recommendation, magnus.
I downloaded a copy of Audio Hijack Pro and played around with it for a few minutes and found it a little cumbersome to use.

EasyWMA on the other hand does the job of converting WMV to MP3 and is very easy to use and don't cost much. There is also no recording involved.
I'm not saying that either one is better, it really depends on what job you are trying to accomplish.
