Hi,
I own an IMac g5 1.6 ghz 17" with Panther installed. I also own Powermac G5 with Tiger installed. I tried to install Tiger on my IMac g5 using the install disc that came with the Powermac and it says "This Software Cannot be installed on this Computer." Is there any way of installing Tiger on my IMac using that disc, or can I use the Target Disc Mode in any way to route around this error. I am prepared to purchase another installer if this is not possible. Thank you!
B Train

technically, you have one OS installer per Macintosh.
unless you have bought the "Family Pack"

Well, first off, read the first reply above.
Secondly, the PowerMac G5 tower you own requires a higher firmware
load than what is available on your iMac G5, and that's why it won't install.
You'll need the retail version of Tiger (aka "all models") to put it on -
your system restore discs are tailored for that machine only.

Hi
While you won't be able to use the Restore app, you should be able to bypass that message and install the OS (Tiger). Instead of inserting the disc and using the installer, boot the iMac from the Power Mac's DVD and prcoeed with the OS install.
Of course, I'm in no way advocating software piracy.
