My mac hard drive crashed so lost all my music but i've still got the songs on my ipod mini. I'd like to transfer the music to itunes pc version but am having trouble as the ipod was formatted via the mac. I can't do anything with the ipod as whenever i click on it's icon in 'my computer' on the pc it asks me if i want to format it. Obviously I don't as i'll lose my music. What can i do to transfer the music without formatting the ipod mini.

From all I've heard, the Mac formatted iPods are not PC friendly, so without a mac you are out of luck.

You need to get a utility that will allow the PC to read a Mac-formatted iPod. Currently the best way to do that is to purchase Mediafour's $30 XPlay 2.
Once you've installed XPlay the PC will treat the iPod essentially like a Windows-formatted iPod.
