I'm having an issue with Adobe Reader 7.0.x . Everything works fine when i try to view PDF files, but when i try to print some of them however, it has issues.
It prints, alright, but all of the images on certain PDFs come out with a slant. For example, when i tried to print a Periodic Table of the Elements, it was so bad that it looked like a barcode made out of slashes. "/////" The text, however, appears exactly how it does on the computer.
I have tried printing the exact same PDF file using Preview, and it works perfectly.
Another curious quirk is that PDF files created through OS X's print menu, print fine. For example: I visited MapQuest today, to get some directions. However, I was not near a printer, so i clicked "file-print" in safari, and saved it as a pdf. The images from this PDF printed properly (in adobe) when i returned home later.
This never happened in previous versions of Adobe/Acrobat reader, or with any other application. It's not a big problem, as i can simply print from preview, but why open another program when I don't' have to? I tend to prefer using Adobe Reader when viewing PDFs.
This seems to occur mostly with PDFs downloaded from my professors' homepages here at my college. I have noticed that every (scanned) practice test from my chemistry teacher's site prints poorly, while Powerpoint presentation class notes turned- PDF, from her site as well, are fine. Similar things happen with other classes. While Chem PPT Notes print fine, History PPT Notes don't.
Is this a problem with Adobe, or could it be an incompatibility with Adobe and PDFs created by certain other applications? Although i'm not certain, i would assume that with so many different teachers, departments, and documents (PPT vs Scanned), different apps would be used.
Any clues?
