Connectivity with Macs and PCs is done through a USB 2.0 port.

So I guess the rumors are true. Firewire is dead.
First the iPod now camcorders.

Maybe the higher-end market will still offer firewire?
As long as vested programs (will in the future) allow usb importing (does any Mac software recognize a camera via USB?) and software control of the camera. (I have only seen this via FireWire) it shouldn't be too big of a problem, apart from those with older systems.

These are DVD camcorders. Most users will use them as intended. Specifically, they will pop-out the mini-DVD and pop it into their DVD players. Alternatively, they can play the mini-DVD using their computer's DVD player. Having FireWire on this kind of camcorder is casting pearls to swine.

Why not Firewire?
How much would add to the price one Firewire port? One dollar?

I don't remember who I was debating this issue with months (years?) ago, but I'll say it anyway -- I told you so. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm thinking that iMovie won't even work with this thing.
