Hey guys, I need some help setting up an external hard drive (Firewire). I purchased a 320 GB hard drive and a firewire case. Putting it all together was pretty straightforward, but when I hooked it up to my Mac, it flashed a message that it could not read it, and started Disk Utility for me. Disk Utility only recognizes it as a 128 GB drive, and I have no idea what I need to do - image it, partition it, ??... Please help!

Unfortunately you got the wrong case for that big of a drive. You need to make sure the case can read large drives, which is drives over 128G.

I double checked the specs on the case and right you are. I must have misread them when I ordered. Thanks for your help and your kindness in your reply. I have ordered another case (one that supports up to 500 GB drives) and will try again. I still have a question about what to do when I first plug it in and get the default message telling me that OS X does not recognize the drive. When I click "Initialize" and launch Disk Utility, what do I need to do to the drive?
Thanks for your help!

When Disk Utility is launched, hi-lite the
top-level name related to the drive (the
device itself) and click the erase tab.
