The online store is always closed during keynotes. Steve would not let his store scoop him. It will reopen after featuring the new products.

I never use dashboard and wish they would just separate it from the OS. I use a preference utility to turn it off. Dashboard should be a mini application that you can run if you want it, like calculator or stickies. Why should I use of CPU cycles to run something that I never use?

When they use the term Major update as he did with iLife '06 that usually means it will cost more. I hope not. Then again I'll be buying a new Mac soon anyway.

me too.
I find most of dashboard's functionality to be redundant when you have broadband internet and you know where to find what you want.
most widgets are just connected to some web site anyway.
but I know those with G5s like the ripple effect.
will have to get iLife 06 for the 3rd party burner support.
it already works now, but better support will be nice.
gotta wait to see if idvd's new incarnation is as hit and miss as the last one though...

FM tuner for iPod? Part of the reason that the iPod was so successful is that Clear-channel sterilized all the music. Only news and talk is worth listening to any more, and that's mostly AM.
On the other hand, you DON'T need to buy a new iPod. I bet lots of people will be happy about that!

Well, that actually depends on which iPod you already have. If for example I wanted this FM tuner (which I do not) I would have to buy a new 5G iPod, since I have an iPod Photo. My understanding is this only works with the new ones.
On the other hand, I think Apple is smart to integrate it into the remote. I'm sure a lot of 5G iPod owners were asking for some kind of remote replacement since Apple took away that remote port on the new models. You certainly don't have to use the FM receiver part if you don't want.

I hope Apple will announce a new iTunes phone...and...announce that they'll be selling ringtones via iTunes! Or, even better, that you can pay $2.00 and get both the song and the ringtone on iTunes. That'd be hot!

Not this week, anyway.
(iPod announcements often have their own event.)

Make that 33% /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was just thinking the same thing. 14 million this holiday season alone - 42 million total sold. That's 20% of all iPods ever sold that were sold JUST THIS HOLIDAY SEASON?!?!?!

I'm always begging for AM radio features. If you have hours of Music at your disposal, why would you listen to FM.
I listen to AM for Boortz and news, but many others are into Sport and Air America. Music radio is dieing. Talk radio is the only fresh thing out there.

Maccentral may be a wee bit behind, but the coverage is superior to the "bubble text" that the other site is doing.
I'll take quality over speed, thank you /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

If you own the song, why would you pay more for the ring tone?
That is what the majority of all cell phone mods are about. Getting your own ringtone on the phone.
I can't believe I just read that! Holy Carp!
