For the past several months I have had to reinstall Stuffit Expander every time I wanted to expand something from the internet. Today I discovered that I didn't have the disk image of the installer anymore, so I had to redownload it. After 3 attempts at downloading I still can't get Stuffit to work. The first time it downloaded and then wouldn't install because of a -95 error. The second time the disk image was bad and wouldn't open. The 3rd time the disk image was bad, but when I skipped verification it opened, but I got a "bad gzip" file and another -95 error. I am sick and tired of Stuffit Expander.
Are there any alternatives to Stuffit?
Right now I need to open a .hqx, can Finder do this?
Any suggestions?
-Thanks in advance.

Try this:
http://www.apple.com...t/ziplight.html
You can also try command lines through terminal....
I still have a copy of Stuffit on my computer, so if it doesn't work, PM me and maybe I can send you the file (not zipped of course).

Actually, after trying your suggestion and thinking about it, I may be more then just Stuffit that is causing my problems. I'm getting a "Codec overrun" error when I try to open disk image files. I have also started having images from webpages be half inverted and distorted. I am going to try a restart of my computer, and it that doesn't work I'll boot off my external hard drive to see if that fixes my problems. I just did an archive and install of the system a week or two back to fix a problem with 10.4.4 after the upgrade, but perhaps a clean install is more needed at the moment.
Thank you for the timely responce! I'll let you know if anything turns up.

-Bob,
Not sure this will help since I have always used StuffIt Deluxe, but make sure you have 'all' components trashed before installing a new: [Stuffit Expander] Maybe use the Search/Find feature to help find all the files Stuffit installs. And with Stuffit Deluxe it requires you to Log OUT/IN before use which you might try even though you are not using the deluxe flavor.
