Who comes up with those rumors? I use Q.T. 7.0.4 all the time and it works fine. The updates went as smooth as silk as usual.

I have zero problems with this Q.T. Apple doesn't say that there is a problem but if you want to revert to a previous version this is how you do it. The sky is not falling and all is well. Nothing wrong with updates from Apple. Small glitches happen and Apple always fixes them soon enough. This has been like that for me ever since the Mac Plus for me and even with the Apple II.
Even for major upgrades I do not do any fancy shmancy play but upgrade straight after repairing permissions and also DW. Never a problem for me to upgrade like that. Most of the fear comes from people who previously depended on Microsoft and think Apple is as careless but isn't. Long time Apple users know better than that because we are spoiled.

Albertr, I'm usually the same way. But when I'm scanning a news site I trust (in this case, BluesNews.com) and have been reading for years, and they have a link such as this one: http://www.vnunet.co...tches-quicktime - I usually stop and think for a moment.
To me, Apple making it easy to revert to 7.0.1 symbolizes them admitting that there is a problem. I mean, to me, ever since QT hit 7.0 it's been buggy. It can't play most of my .avi's and .mpg's anymore: I have to use VLC. So with that being said, when there are issues with a new version of a program that I think has lost quality in recent memory, I won't just update because Apple tells me to, etc. Not implying you do, but even though my computer experience with Apple has been far greater than the ones I've had with Dell, Gateway, Microsoft, etc., they can still make mistakes.

Is there ever a time when no one comes up with some crap about an update? If everybody was so scared we would all still be using a quill and animal skins. So far, Apple has been very good to me as always. Hey go ahead go out of your way to find nay sayers. Paranoia is wonderful as an income source for shrinks. Have a good time on the couch!

I think I may have uncovered some of the reasons why my update from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 failed.
I have installed a number of third party system patches which may have caused the incompatability with 10.4.4. For example, I have fruit menue, windowshades from Unsanity and KeyCue and a few other application enhancers.
It is my understanding that those plug-ins and application enhancers affect all running applications by modifying the runtime behavior of other applications.
I will once again try the update from 10.4.3 to 10.4.4 to see what happens when I turn those enhancers off and then on.

I didn't have an issue either on both Tiger updates, but there was a small window when Apple had a snag when first offered. The Apple discussion boards cover it well. Thats why there was an uninstall for QT 7.0.4 right away. Some just got a bad DL during that poor window of opportunity from what I gather.
