My iSight iMac has been experiencing what some call "sleep-crash" problems. I have seen several comments elsewhere that say it's USB-related, or was solved by switching off a printer before sleep, etc. but I can't reproduce the problem consistently. That is, it DOESN'T happen every time the thing sleeps, and sometimes it does happen with fewer and/or different things plugged in. I've fiddled with Energy Saver, repaired permissions, tried with all users logged in and with only the primary user logged in. Unpredictable but will eventually crash, if not this sleep, then the next maybe.
The main symptom is just this: The machine goes to sleep, and after some minutes (a few, maybe more, maybe an hour), the fan speeds up to "jet engine" intensity and the machine will not wake up once that happens. Usually can be shut down by holding down the power button several seconds, but not always... sometimes it just has to be unplugged.
I've seen people post that Apple replaced major components in the system in order to repair this problem, with mixed results. Is anyone familiar with this problem and is there a consensus as to what's wrong?
Thanks,
Scott

I am also having the same problem with my DP 2.0 Power Mac G5 except it happens everytime it enters sleep mode. It only started "sleep-crashing" after I updated to 10.4.4 so i'm almost positve that is the reason for it in my case. I can live(for now) with shutting down everytime until they fix it in the next update(hopefully)but it is really nice/convenient to just be able put the machine into sleep mode. Many thanks in advance for any comments or solutions to mine and Scott's problem.
