Using iMac G4 as external monitor

Is it possible to connect the iMac G4's monitor to another computer? I'm getting a MacBook Pro, but I really like my 20" screen, and would like to be able to use it like an Apple Cinema Display. It seems there could be some kind of DVI to Firewire adapter that sent the signal from the MacBook to the iMac, and some software that displayed it.
