I'm looking for a case/sleeve for my G4 Tibook.

I have the Tilt 'n Tote handle attached so it's a bit wider (not much... maybe 1.5-2.0 cm wider).

My requirements would be that it be well padded especially with bottom padding (to take being inserted into a backpack and then occasionally being put down on the ground... that "impact" can be jarring, even if I'm very very careful.)

Also, I'd be concerned the the Tibook wasn't getting too much pressure on the outside face where the screen is since the screen is so thin.

I've looked at a couple of tote/sleeves and hope that they will do it, but does anyone have experience with or can anyone recommend a good padded sleeve?

I'm currently looking at the:

blank>MadsonLine "G4 Saver"
* MacCase Sleeve

I'd like to keep it in my backpack instead of a specific "computer case" so I don't scream "steal me... I'm a laptop".

I'd welcome any comments/personal experience you all have regarding these or other sleeves that aren't on my "radar screen".

Thanks in advance.

The Madsonline sleeve is cheaply constructed (the neoprene is only about 1/8" thick), way overpriced, and doesn't afford much protection against bumps. Waterfield Designs ( blank>http://www.sfbags.com/ ) gives you a lot more for your money.
Also the Marware cases are well-made, minimalist, attractive designs that offer much better protection for a reasonable price ( blank>http://www.marware.com/ )

Thank you! My thoughts are the MadsonLine and the MacCase sleeve were a bit too thin and offered too little protection. Maybe okay if I was putting it into a hard sided brief case, but maybe not in a backpack.

I really do like the look of the protection that the Willow Design case. Does anyone have one of these? Are the hard sides/skeleton strong enough? Is it heavy?

Oh, here's another an cheaper option:

I just bought the Willow Design Jacques backpack & it's really well engineered. I considered a sleeve/backpack arrangement but opted for the "all-in-one" solution. One nice thing about this pack is that it has a velcroed cover for the backpack straps so it can be hand carried more like a tote or more conventional case. It also comes with a really comfortable shoulder strap that will hang the bag either horizontally or vertically. The Ti resides in the section closest to the back & is well padded & strapped in with wide velcro. There's another section that holds 2" of letter size paper & a removable mesh bag for cables & other stuff. There's a outside front compartment for personal items like keys, cellphone, pens, notebook, etc., and a zippered space on the front of that for tickets, glasses, etc. Willow also includes a removable padded handle cover & a cellphone/glasses case that can attach to the backpack strap.

I've had the Waterfield Desings sleeve from sfbags that hobiecat mentioned and can't say enough good things about it. It was resonably priced (under $50) and the material and build quality is superb (surprisingly so). They make both a horizontal and vertical sleeve custom fit for the Ti, so getting you tilt 'n tote to fit should be much of a problem.

I love my Waterfield bag, but that Marware bag looks great too. Did you see the red one that's on sale?

Be careful, because the red "on sale" bag is not dimensioned for the Ti. There is a little note that says so.

Take a look at the eClipse bag by Tom Bihn @ Tom Bihn Bags
I have used his bags for my iBook and now my tiBook. Good price, great bag and excellent customer service.

Thank you. This "Lap Dog" looks good to me. I like the corrugated plastic insert. So kind of hard sides with padding also. I wonder if the TiBook is suspended like a hanging file folder. Anyone have one of these?

This thread is fast becoming a primer of G4 Tibook cases.

This TranSporter by Trager (esp. since they are 20% off right now) looks good.

I have the waterfield design sleevecase - the one with only the narrow velcro flap closing the slit. It works great by letting the Tote n Tilt handle hang out for toting. It slips nicely into my daypack when all I want is the Ti and some books.

For all the works, I got a Darwin pack from Willow and there's enough room for my video camera, tapes, CDs, Ti accessories, etc. The Willow pack is the nicest piece of stitching I've ever seen and the zippers are the slickest. Good Luck! - Dusty

Brenthaven's bags have gotten all sorts of accolades. One their site, they show a detail of the suspension system with a mini video showing the bag taking a drop from around 3 feet you see the bag take a serious bounce. Supposedly, the computer inside survives.

They have the full gamut of slim to break-your-back-and-carry-everything, and also wheeled solutions.

I have the Brenthaven Titanium bag - bought from the Apple online store. While pricey, it is superb. The sleeve is amazingly well padded and an absolute perfect fit (as it should be!). My only complaint about the bag - they did not put rubber scuff pads on the outside bottom. I would have liked those, as I feel ultimately thats where the long term wear will show.

My 667Mhz TiBook is carried to and from work every day, and is emaculate because of this bag.

I'm surprised to hear that Brenthaven doesn't put feet on the bottom of the bags. I can't remember how many times I had to put a bag on the floor in the subway in NY, sometimes during inclement weather and near some unidentifiable slop on the floor.
