drmbb,

i'm confused. brenthaven's site shows that there is much more padding on the bottom of the brenthaven computer sleeve then the sides. so there must be a "safer" orientation... portrait or landscape.

i'm assuming 3/8"-5/8" around all sides except the bottom and like 1" there (although the bouncing computer diagram seems to suggest more). images/icons/smile.gif

can you or another brenthaven computer sleeve owner ellaborate?

I've gotten some emails regarding some other Tibook sleeves/cases.

Here are two more sleeves/cases for your consideration.

blank>Spire "Boot" sleeve
This looks to be a good sleeve, that also comes included in their "Icon" daypack. One big thing that I noticed on this site is that the sleeve comes with a 2" padding to fit down into the sleeve for more padding for smaller/thinner computers (G4 I suppose).

OtherWorld Computing's basic sleeve
This is pretty basic. Basically a Cordura shell. But the only big difference here is that this sleeve mentions that it's "mostly" waterproof... I suppose that means that it's "water resistant". The Cordura is plastic lined to shed water that hits it... but water can still leak through the zipper area. But hey... for being stuck in a sudden summer thunderstorm... this maybe a life (and Tibook) saver.

I realize that the phrase, "elegant solution", is of paramount importance to Mac users but...

I wondered if anyone out there doesn't just make their own little covered pad for the bottom of their backpack or bag to take their Tibook?

Kind of a tiny version of a sofa cushion. Maybe even in the shape of a little letter "U" with 2-3" of foam at the bottom edge.

The issue in my mind is just when you put a backpack or any bag down, there is quite a bit of force on the bottom edge of the Tibook. Anything that can disburse this force would be welcome I suppose.

I have an old Eddie Bauer bag with loads of pockets and stuff. I just took a few old, beat up mouse pads and cut them up with scissors and duct taped them to the bottom of the bag.

Now the machine is padded, doen't look like a computer case and is reasonably rugged.

My wife bought a new sewing machine a few months ago, and the first thing we made with it was a fleece sleeve with velcro to close it, and a matching sleeve for my extra battery! images/icons/grin.gif images/icons/cool.gif
Total cost, $9.50

Nothing like a bottle of wine to get the creative juices flowing! images/icons/smile.gif

Once I get home, I'll post pics, if anyone is interested.

Don't know if anyone cares, but I posted pics here.

At least now I know how easy iPhoto's sharing to web is.

The 10.1.3 update took away my ability to delete files from my CF card by using my SmartDisk CF reader. This wasn't a problem at all in 10.1.2. Anyone else notice this?

This thread has been great so far, but i was wondering to those who have talked about/ or own the Titanium 1 & 2 by Brenthaven (being sold on apple.com) how much room is there in the bag after the computer is in their. Like how many half inch binders/ test books could fit in there? Cuz i plan on gettin one of them, but i need room for @least the computer, 2 text books and a notebook. Thanks for all your help

Hi

All of these sleeves look great to me, one problemo, i live in the UK and have you seen the shipping charges ? It will cost around $70 to ship a $35 sleeve.
Does anyone know of a UK website or at least a US one who are not asking the kings ransome to send it to me :-)

Thanks

Shaun

PBG4,

Cool sleeve! That's pretty cleaver of you. My only concern would be the static charge that fleece tends to make (or a least when I take off my fleece pullover... I could power a small Latin American country with the static electricity).

I'm still curious about the Brenthaven sleeve and wonder if any Brenthaven owners could share how much cushioning is on the bottom edge.

Any hardcase users? I'm still hoping to hear from someone with a Dr. Bott TiCase or equivalent.
quote:
that is an incorrect link.

the correct one is:

Spire Laptop bags

I just looked and I have to say that they feel confident about their products. They have no restocking fee for returns (although they do not reimburse shipping).
