Though at first excited by the rollout of Spotlight, as I used it I found it slow, difficult to use and worst of all, utterly unreliable. And, as I work with people around me, I find them commenting how they dislike Spotlight as well. Yesterday a coworker and I were searching for "ATM" on his Mac and Spotlight didn't find the file we were looking for. As we continued to work, suddenly we come across the file (the old OS9 Control Panel). To tell the truth, I never believe Spotlight's results are complete. All I can do is hope. Everytime I do a search now, I grit my teeth.
Are we dislikers of Spotlight so rare that there is no underlying rumble among its users? Why aren't there picket lines in front of Apple demanding changes? This is a basic, critical function of the system. Can't someone raise a row? Maybe MacWorld?
