Hi guys
I listen to audiobooks on my iPod. I download them from a company called Audible which has some sort of proprietary format that won't let me convert them to the MP3 format. I'd love to be able to burn some of these books to CD's and not have to use fourteen plus CD's to do so. If any of you have any ideas on how I can accomplish this I would really appreciate your advice.
Just in case any of you are wondering, this is what the file looks like.

Audible claims it can go into iTunes.
Have you tried setting iTunes/Prefs/Advanced/Burning
to "MP3 CD?"
Just a thought.

When I download the file from Audible, it is opened by iTunes. However, when I go into preferences and burning...and try to burn that selection to disc I get a dialog box saying that this type of file cannot be burned as an MP3. When I burn Dan Brown's The Davinci Code to CD's it takes somewhere around 16 CD's to do the job. I remember reading somewhere that you can get something like 12 hours of audio on a CD when it's done as an MP3, thus, this is why I'd like to be able to do this with these really long audiobooks. I've got quite a few Stephen King audiobooks that I'd like to burn to disc for my wife to listen to in her car, but it's a huge pain-in-the-butt to do so when it takes so darned many disks.
Thank you for the reply.

As I said, Larry, it was just a thought. Apple seems
to be in league with Audible.
If you're really bored some weekend, you might burn
those puppies to CD-RWs, so you can re-use the discs.
That might put them in AIFF format. Which you can
convert into MP3s.
That's what I do with the M4Ps I get from iTMS. Once
those songs are on an audio CD, they're fair game.

I have Audible.com... why in the world are you burning audio books to CD's?
Audible.com is so flexible there rarely is a need for a CD. If you do want your books on CD it would be cheaper overall to just buy the book on CD rather than through Audible.

while it would take a long time, you could re-record the files with something like audio highjack. maybe run it over night since it would have to happen in real time.
