Well when my internal hard drive blew up, my cooling fan on my Power Mac G5 began to run uncontrollably. I had to shut the machine off. I talked to an Apple tech and he said that since it could not find the operating sysrem it made the CPU hot, hence the wild fan. OK, the hard drive was replaced, but now the fan kicks on about every ten-twenty minutes for about 20 seconds or so. CPU temp is running anywhere from 110 to 119. Could the sensor (for cooling kick-on) have been damaged? This is not normal behavior for my computer. When my room got warm in the summer, 85+, the fan would kick on for a few seconds and then turn off.
All other computer functions are apparently normal.

I am assuming you are in degrees F.
my G5 powermac DP runs around 150-160 degrees. primary CPU being the hottest.
and when it's 85 degrees in the house, my fans run plenty with a wind up on occasion.
so I don't let it get 85 anymore heh.
sounds normal
if you are talking C for the processor, it isn't right. bring it back.

it sounds basically normal to me
i mean, there are about 8 fans in a g5, but at least to me, they are all pretty much inaudible. I frequenly see my processors over 160, and I can still barely hear the fans cranking away.
I wouldn't worry about it too much.

The fans on my G5 are always running and even when all is quiet in the room, the nine fans combined are barely above a whisper. I cannot say the same for my miniStack as it gets noticeably loud when the fan kicks in even if there are other sound sources active in the room (e.g., TV, stereo, etc.). From time-to-time the fans will spin up for a few seconds and then return to a quiet state on my G5. In fact, based on what I am hearing it seems like the fans are only audible during their acceleration stage again becoming quiet once they achieve a stable velocity. Your situation seems pretty normal.

i did a comparison today, and I can hear the mini fan on my old tibook more than I can hear the fans on my g5
unless your fans are constantly running and they sound like a jet engine, I wouldn't worry about it, its probably fine
