TV Capture in widescreen 16x9

I have a formac studio tvr to record and edit digital tv on my G5..
After much trouble with the formac software, I discovered the free software Vidi which records just as well with less hard-drive space being taken up by each recording.
I am very much wanting to find a piece of software that records in true 16x9 widescreen as this is how much digital television is broadcast.
Can I do this with software or is it to with my hardware?

Accoring to the site it supports 16x9. Maybe your video card does not interpret it correctly?
