Hi everyone
I have an Ibook 800Mhz. the system requirements of the Ipod Nano say you must have OS X 10.4. My first question is because my computer is not that new will i experience performance problems with the new OS?
Secondly, the requirements say you must have built in USB 2.0. Does the Ibook 800Mhz have this?
Thanks for your reply.

I've got roughly the same iBook, and I do run Tiger on it, and it's acceptable. BUT it must be noted that these days I use the iBook rarely...my standards for its performance are probably not high, so take it with a grain of salt. Oh, and my RAM is maxed out.
That said, I reiterate that I find Tiger's performance OK on my iBook (come to think of it, why shouldn't I? The history of OS X is that successive builds seem to run better, not worse, though they become less inclusive of older hardware).
Unfortunately, I don't think yours has USB 2.0. To check you can use your system profiler, and select USB. It's a little cryptic in there, but if you find reference to speed up to 480 Mb/sec then you've got USB 2.

Tiger will be 'fine'. I'd highly suggest at least 512MB of RAM -- I like OWC -- but the more the merrier.

iBook G4s are the only machines with USB 2.0. You can use 1.1 but the initial transfer will be lengthy.
