I had problems with the initial upgrade they sent me, but was able to get the problem worked out -- Larry and company shipped me a replacement which worked perfectly (1.467 ghz Mercury Extreme, approx. 2 years ago).
I've also found they are one of the few companies around to honestly ship with good rates. No problems here with OWC -- they seem quite conscientious in my experience.

I had the same model, seems a bit more common than they claimed.
If I'd been in the States they may have been nice to me. They figured I was too far away and behind the eight ball, stone walled me, then said I could pay for shipping both ways with no guaranty of a fix to the problem (cpu overheated from the beginning).
I had trouble getting any sort of a straight answer. I even had to persist to get replies despite their claim to reply within 48hrs. The emails became more and more evasive then finally acrimonious.
I got stuck with it.
It would have been like sending soup back into the kitchen of a Greasy Joe's.

I have purchased several CPU upgrades and other hardware (Combo drives, etc) from them with great success and satisfaction. In fact, I got a PowerLogix G4 400mhz upgrade for my B&W and over-clocked it to 450mhz and it has been running great for over two years now :-)

I've ordered software, hard drives and other hardware, and inexpensive RAM from OWC over the last few years and have never had a problem of any kind. They were where I got Tiger for $99 instead of the usual $129. I've also ordered similar items from other Mac retailers and consider OWC one of the more trouble-free retailers, actually.

OWC is one of the best in my experience, and I have bought dozen's of HDs and memory upgrades from them either for myself or for my former job with very good shipping rates and exchanges. Can't say that of many other companies /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I've had pretty good experience with OWC too, I've purchased my RAM upgrades for my eMac from them, I also got my refurbished G3 B&W from OWC, and an assortment of miscellaneous items, OS 9.1 CD and I even had their dial up internet service provided from them, but they discontinued their 24 HR a day technical assistance and didn't even email me to let me know of the changes. In fact the emails they did send me during the time this happened, their emails still had the 24 HR service advertisement! I e-mailed them a complaint 2 times and they never replied... I finally had a question I emailed with an apology for being angry toned about the 24 HR technical discontinued and they replied, thankfully. But not about the 24 HR technical support being discontinued.
All this to say, Yes I'd still give OWC my business but I'm still disapointed with their customer service changes. Also when I've called OWC for other technical questions concerning the products I've purchased it is such a hurried experience with the support Rep. And a long wait time, that has been in my experience messed up. I kept getting bumped back to different numbers on the waiting list.
Come on OWC!! /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif

I had bad experiences with OWC as well. One was with an ext HD. I purchased a "new" one, but when I got it, it was obvious that the security adhesive has been removed before. I understand some businesses still consider certain items "new" if they are returned within a certain timeframe, so I let it go. The second bad experience was with RAM. I ordered a stick of RAM with CL2 and they gave me one with CL3 and they had the audacity (and stupidity) to tell me that I'm fortunate to get the one with CL3. I haven't done business with them since.

Ordered RAM through them for my 7100/66cd when it was brand new (many years ago)... sent me 2 failed SIMM's for it. Called them up notifying them of the situation, they sent out another set that didn't even match, neither in brand nor in design (slimline vs. standard, Samsung vs. non-branded). They also failed... sent them back, was lucky to get a refund (perhaps because I live in IL and know where Woodstock is) compared to the other horror stories I've heard about them after the fact. I wouldn't ever order through them again when there's many more reputable companies to deal with. I've never had problems remotely similar to OWC via MacMall, MacWarehouse, La Cie, APS Tech, ClubMac, Power-On, et al. and I've ordered through them all quite a # of times. If you're going to go mail order... go through someone else than OWC, regardless of price. The peace of mind is worth the added investment, I assure you.

I received a defective video card once from them and they promptly replaced it with a new one. I have ordered RAM, optical drives, hard drive cases, and software (OS X, Office) from OWC and have been very pleased with their prompt delivery, communication, products, and support. I don't live in Illinois (but do live in Missouri and know where Woodstock Illinois is... ;-) )
