Hi,
I'm using Word 2004 for Mac, version 11.1
I'd like to create a template. The template will be my personal stationary.
On the first page, in the header, I'd like to include my name and contact info.
However, on subsequent pages, I'd lilke there to be no header, just a footer with my name, and page x of y.
I'd also like to specify margins.
Is there a way to create a template like this, where the first page differs from subsequent pages?
Thanking you very much in advance.

Howdy. When you set up the document as template, you have to add the second page, and then in Page Setup choose Document Layout, click on Layout and check the box which says "Different First Page". Then you can set up margins, headers, footers separately for the first page and subsequent pages.

Hi Shades,
Thanks very much for your informative reply. I seem to have implemented your directions.
Glad as I am that it was successful, I must confess that I loathe Word, as it is only my Microsoft software that crashes.
I'm trying to ease into Pages, but it's a bit of an adjustment.
Again, thank you for your kind help.

Depending on your needs, you might consider Mellel or Nisus Writer Express. I have both as well as Word 2004. Overall, Mellel takes a little longer to learn, different implementation of styles, but far better, and multiple notes streams, etc. It has a very useful outlining feature (not as comprehensive as OO, but useable). I have used it for 3+ years and it has never crashed on me. The next version will be XML based and offer additional enhancements.
Likewise, NWE is rock solid. Since I still on 10.3.9 the latest improvements of NWE don't work, and hence it can't be my primary word processor, but I like the feel of writing with it. I had used Nisus Writer Classic for several years before moving to OS X.

Wow, I didn't know about either of those. I checked them both out - seem a bit different from each other, but apparently they crash less than Word, and are much faster than Word.
Admittedly, for all of its flaws, I like that I can record audio easily with Word 2004, and have it synchronized with my accompanying notes.
Notwithstand that feature, I will definitely check out those other two word processors.
Once again, thank you.
