I've been trying for about a week to install Battlefield 1942 (retail deluxe version with CD) on my new Intel iMac. Whenever I try to run the application, the screen goes black, with only the white mouse cursor visible. It stays like this until I eventually pull the plug to reset the computer. (PS, is there another way to reset the computer from a freeze. It seems to lock up a LOT more than my old G4 powerbook)
I've applied all patches up to 1.61d.
The downloaded multiplayer demo works fine.
The version of bf1942 I'm trying install ran fine on my G4 powerbook.
Any ideas?

Thanks for contacting us. As of now we have no official word on which products
will and will not work on the Intel systems. We are currently undergoing back
catalog testing with all of our games to determine the functionality on the
Intel systems. Here is a very interesting article that may be of use to you:
http://developer.app...rket/aspyr.html
For 2006 we plan to ship most if not all of our Mac games as
"Universal", which means they will run natively on both PowerPC &
Intel Macs. These include Quake 4 (likely our first in-box
Universal game), Call of Duty 2, and Civ 4.
We have patches in the works for Sims 2 (+university &
nightlife), Doom 3, Star Wars KOTOR, and Jedi Academy that will
make the Universal. These patches should be ready to release as
free downloads over the next couple months.
After we get a feel for which current games run OK and which are
too slow under Rosetta, we'll go back and look at patching any
games we still sell that don't have acceptable performance.
Stay posted on www.aspyr.com/support for updates and patches regarding this
issue.
