I don't have time to get into here, but something has to be done about the flood of tech jobs leaving this country. As a programmer I am really getting hammered by this. I used to work in construction during my down time. In 2002 I had the developer on my subdivision (whose property I had a mortgage on) tell me that he could not hire me because the other workers would walk off the job if he hired a white man.
Technology is in a very tricky place right now. Only the best can survive. We need to make it a little more welcoming to those who don't have the benefit of schools with the finest computer labs.

My oh my, where do you live? Are they Mexican immigrant workers that would rather speak spanish on the job than english? I'd understand that line of reasoning since it might be easier for them, but what's the deal there? It amazes me that this still goes on.

Remember when it was funny to make fun of the incompetence/corruptness of our government? Last I checked, everyone still hates the IRS, so at least we can all agree on something. Oh, and I hate Symantec, so this news is funny to me.

Hmm... What do you mean still? Like someone is doing something to stop it?
I've got a better idea for Symentec. Move everyone to Mexico and become citizens. Then, s-n-e-a-k back over the border to the Symantec building and go back to work. Voila, illegal and NO TAX. And, no one will try to stop you. HOOAH!!

Symantic has to have a basis for the valuation of the intellectual property in question. The IRS is disputing this basis and the case will end up in tax court. If Symantic can prove that the basis used for the valuation of the intellectual property is reasonable then they will win the case and the IRS will lose. Or perhaps the valuation is somewhat suspect in that case it would seem that a compromise will have to be made and maybe the IP will be valued higher and Symantic will have to pay additional tax (and penalties/interest). One thing is certain the lawyers and attorneys at Symantic along with consulting tax attorney specialists are really cranked up now. With so much to lose I would expect nothing less than an extremely vigorous defense from Symantic.

I mean we're more and more of an international community where our race and religion should be a non-issue. I understand there are many areas in America where time is at a stand still but I can only hope that the newer generations will break the cycles.
China is an economic powerhouse and we'll have to do business their way when they eventually take their trillions and start buying-up American icons much like the Japanese did in the 80's. There were many sterotypes thrown about then and many out of fear, but I believe a bit of their culture has been integrated into the melting pot. Now more and more people will be learning the Chinese language otherwise the Chinese worker may not want to work with the (insert your race here) American.

Powder Springs in Cobb county which is a Western suburb of Atlanta.
The issue is not "American children not learning from their (bigoted) parents' mistakes." I've been very encouraged to see that this learning is taking place. The problem is "not Americans." More importantly, "not Americans" who do not want to be American.
I'm not from the South. I was very shocked to see how big of an issue certain sects make out of race. I've never met a rascist, (by it's TRUE definition) and neither have most of you. However, bigotry is everywhere. From every group toward every other group. It's wild. The Cynthia McKinney events you are all hearing about are only a shadow of the mindsets of many people in this area.
The biggest problem I see there is when one person or even organization tries to represent a race or sect. I don't want to be judged based on what someone else says about "us". I don't want to judge "you" (singular) based on what someone else says about "y'all" (Southern plural).
However, this gets away from all things tech, and invites diving into politics, which I'd like to avoid.
