Yes, this issue has been beaten to death, but then not all visitors to these forums are veterans, and in any event here's some new info to consider on the subject from our friends at MacFixit:

it;s always been Apple Mojo to me.
it has helped in the past as far as i can tell, but I was never sure.
all I do know is that is is less bloody than sacrificing a live chicken over your keyboard. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif
