I think it's amazing that such a hugely complicated piece of software works so well that even this long after Photoshop 9 was released there has only been this one update. Not to imply it's perfect, but it sure is a nice piece of software.
Many things Apple have probably had 2-4 updates and fixes in the same time frame (not that they aren't good software, too.)

Adobe's made it clear that the Creative Suite won't be universal until the next new release.

I agree. I'm pretty happy with Photoshop's performance overall. It rarely crashes and, while there are occasional hangs (for no apparent reason), it's not too bad.
I wish I could say the same for the rest of CS2.

Yep,
Check out John Nack's blog about bug fixes in Photoshop and other issues. I especially like the one two day ago on adding features to Photoshop and making it faster and easier to navigate, rather than the common feature bloat with so many programs (read: Office).
Maybe Adobe hasn't been especially good at it, since they leave in so many useless features - but users would scream if they got rid of them. I still find Photoshop, which I've used every day at work for the past 14 years as of next week, a pleasure to use. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Up until 10.4.6, Photoshop has always been rock solid, but after the update, it started to quit on me when doing things like opening an EPS. It has also quit on me when renaiming layers. I haven't had this type of issue since PS7's initial release for OS X, so I'm somewhat annoyed. And as noted, this was not an issue before 10.4.6.

Has anyone installed and tested this yet?
Versiontracker has some (a couple) poor reviews so far, so I'm going to be cautious at the moment, since I don't experience the bug issues mentioned.
Thumbs Up? .. Thumbs Down?
thnx

Seems to be working fine here. I'm not a PS power user, but it hasn't had any issues since the update.

Do you have a Wacom tablet. Do you have Inkwell on? I found out the hard way that having these two things in conjunction with Photoshop made it unstable as hell. I turned Inkwell off and my problems faded.

Thanks for the recommendation, I do use a Wacom, but Inkwell is turned off. I even double checked just in case. I'm just getting started on some work, so hopefully all goes well with this new update.
I hope the Inkwell thing isn't a common issue. Even though I don't use it, I've bee hoping that Apple will release one of those 12" Intel based penbooks that Wacoms integrated. They're only 256 levels and lack tilt, but it would be cool to own. /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif
