When trying to back up my photos to a DVD I was told that the disk was full. Silly me - I dragged the file 2006 back into the iPhoto folder. When the box popped up "A folder with this name already exists. Do you want to replace?" I clicked yes...
After trying every recovering trick I know, all I have now is the name of the photo, but when I try and open it, it is empty and is 0KB.
Someone suggested buying Norton's GoBack...any other suggestions to get back my beloved photos?

Three days later - hope it's not too late.
The most important factor in successfully recovering a deleted file is to minimize any writing to the disk. Deleting the file, whether as a discrete action or as a side-effect of "replacing it" with a different file doesn't destroy the data - it just sets a flag that tells the system "this directory entry is no longer used and the disk blocks it references are available."
Probably the first tool I'd try is Micromat's TechTool Pro and let it scavenge. There's also a disk utility suite under the Norton name but I've had too many bad experiences with Symantec to recommend them.
