Something in your sidebar disappeared in a puff of smoke? Here’s how to put it back. [more]

...Not to mention the keyboard shortcut for other Sidebar entries... which some users accidently drag out with a puff of smoke, (other than Computer as the article demonstrates): AppleT as listed in the Finder File menu as Add To Sidebar. So, to restore other Sidebar entries with the original icon, navigate to your Home Folder and select the folder you want to add to the Sidebar, then press AppleT.

Thanks for the tip.
How do you get rid of the Sidebar forever, and ever? Turning everything of in Sidebar preferences still leaves Sidabar on. And changing the window settings doesn't hold the next time you open a new window.
Very un-Mac like ...
Thanks for your assistance.

There are two ways to do it. Both start the same:
Close all windows. Open a new window.
If you don't want the Toolbar and the Sidebar, select View: Hide Toolbar, then close the window.
If you want the Toolbar but not the Sidebar, then double-click on the dot dividing the Sidebar from the main window area -- the Sidebar will collapse out of sight. Close the window.
Now, all newly opened windows should match the look you just created.

Rob:
Thanks for these tips. I've been using them since you first posted them, sorry it took so long to say thanks.
