Want to close every window in the Finder, other than the one you're presently using? Read on for two ways to do just that. [more]

The script is an added bonus /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif. The main hint is the "sheet to leave open" trick.

It doesn't take that long to run the script...much faster than trying to remember Command-Shift-G and the Command-Option W. Easier just to click on the script in the toolbar of any window and watch all the others disappear! What a great utility.

The last thing I need is more keyboard shortcuts to remember so the script is definitely the way to go, thanks. It takes only a second or two to launch and then, poof!, all the other windows go away. I put it in the window toolbar (my sidebar is already loaded).

Interesting, I just tried "the easy way" on my MBP, but after I get the folder dialog and hit escape, nothing happens.
Edit: My mistake, I misread.

Here's a script I've used for some time. I don't recall where I found it.
tell application "Finder" to close (every window whose index > 1)
