I'm going to be a college student in the fall, and im strongly considering purchasing a MacBook (13.3 inch, 2.0 ghz, white, upgraded to 2 gigs ram). I dont expect the computer to deliver supreme gaming performance, but i was wondering what i can expect if i try to pop in an old copy of diablo 2 or starcraft hybrid copies. since it is meant for powerpc macs, can i expect it to work?
thank you in advance for your help and advice, i look forward to becoming part of the apple community /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

They should both work on rosetta but i'm curious to know what that performance will be like. They won't be universal binaries but they should both run. Since they are old games they should be quite playable, but i'd be interested to know that too because before I buy one of those laptops and leave my g4 behind, i'd like to know for sure that i'll be able to run starcraft /forums/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

So can, in theory, OS X emulate anything as long as you have the power to do it? I've got a super old copy of X wing that ran allright on my old Mac with OS 7.1, like, 8 years ago. I figure my hummin gmacbook pro could spend 90% of itself running emulation and still be able to easily get the job done.
And my other question pertained to Starcraft, but it sounds as if that works fine. I'm not sure if I'm going to install it on my windows or or OS X side though.
Actually, speaking of Starcraft (which, for the record, i do own legally and all), I was wondering what the deal with Cd cracks for that is. I bought the battle chest, so I have brood wars as well. Can no cd cracks somehow handle the difference, or does the game need the disk to run the distinctions? Has anyone else dealt with this? My computer being a laptop, it is way more convieniant to be able to not worry about disks if i want to pop in a game while on the go.
