Short ADC Extension Cable?

I recently moved my Mac G5 into a cabinet a little further away than before and bought a 10' ADC extension cable. I don't know if anyone has used one of these but I would like to warn people not to get it. The picture on my 17" display is terrible, artifacts and poor color.
My question is if anybody knows of a shorter cable, I only need a 2 foot one. Maybe someone has had luck shortening a longer one? I want to avoid getting the powered cord since it costs $189!
