The "Get Flash" button on Adobe's site seems to take you to the Shockwave download page. It also looks like there is still not yet an official universal binary for Flash 9. We are still stuck on the 8 beta.

Also, it wasn't noted if it was a Universal Binary or just PowerPC version of it.... Anyone know?

Any idea about the STANDALONE FlashPlayer 9? That comes handy to play flash files without any web browser. Thanks.

I'm a little surprised that with Apple announcing the switch to Intel a year ago that this new version of Flash was introduced as PPC only. I use almost all Adobe products (for Mac) and believe them when they say the Universal Binaries are coming, but they are sure taking their sweet time about it. Without the Intel based power desktops yet released from Apple, this lack of Universal apps hasn't been a dire issue for most studios, but they need to be ready for these new machines.

Quicktime can only play Flash Player 5 or lower content. That's quite a few versions back and only allows for basic animation, not interactivity or any of the advanced features of that most Flash movies use these days.

Linux doesn't even have Flash 8 yet. Adobe really need to get their Flash development in gear if they want people to use the new functionality.

I know what they mean ...
but, I just love the concept of a "Preview Release" of the old version!

I agree with you 100%. Adobe pretty much knew what was going on and should announce universal apps the day of or shortly after the release of the Intel towers. They sure dropped the ball.

Now I can watch those annoying blinky, dancing baloney ads much faster.
