What a cool utility. And it is really nice to see it survive and grow for sooo long. Wasn't this available for 680x0 Macs?

The first Mac I used PopChar on was a 6115 PowerPC Performa back with OS 7.5. I too am glad to see it continue to evolve (without feature bloat) and was happy to pay the OS X upgrade fee - even though it's only good for two years worth of updates now - which seems to be a common practice with shareware these days.

The glyph palette of InDesign has pretty much removed the need for this utility. But it was cool.

That's true, if the only program you use for text is InDesign. But that's hardly the case for most people. While I don't use PopChar every day, it's there whenever I need it, whatever program I'm working in. And the new font fly-out window, for instance, is a significant improvement, making it a lot easier to search for special characters in alternate fonts.
