Hi all, I just recently switched over to Mac and I have a question regarding iPhoto and Finder. What is the best way to organize the photo's files? Within iPhoto I have no problem managing pictures, creating folders and albums, and so on, but my question is regarding the actual file organization within Finder. For example, if I try to upload a picture through a webpage, I have to click on many different "rolls" in order to select the picture I want. Is there a way for me to view all the pictures at the same time (a la Windows XP- My Pictures) instead of having to click on each roll?
I'm aware I could go back in and cut and paste the pics to one general roll, but there has to be an easier way to do this. Also, would it be wise in the future to rename my pics so I can easier distinguish them from IMG000877 or whatever.
Thanks for the help and I hope I provided the information necessary for a solution.

Organizing iPhoto Picture Files in Finder

Don't upload from the Finder. Instead, use an album in iPhoto (or just multi-select) to choose all your images, then use the Export function, and export to a new folder on your desktop. Upload the folder's contents, delete the folder, done.
I haven't tried to look at my photo collection in the Finder in many, many years -- I just let iPhoto do all (or most -- sometimes I export then edit in Photoshop prior to uploading) of the work.

I agree wholeheartedly with Rob -- NEVER mess with your photos in finder. Do everything from within iPhoto. Disaster will ensue if you try to move/change things in finder! I usually make an album, e.g., named "Printing" that I move photos to from the rolls when I want to print. When finished printing, I just delete the photos from that album and it is nice and empty for the next printing session. I also rename my rolls within iPhoto so that the names reflect what the content is. You could do the same and it would be easier to find your photos. The rolls don't have to remain "Roll xxx". I make sort of large albums that way (renaming the roll) and then can break down into real albums with only certain of the photos. If you want to view all your photos in iPhoto, just open all the rolls -- but know that doing this may well slow down your progress. Collapsed rolls allow iPhoto to run faster.
Good luck!
